Surgery

The Surgery Department covers a vast range of visceral and general surgery, treating more than 3.000 patients each year. It has the best technology to deal with chronic inflammations, tumors of the gastrointestinal tract and proctological disorders such as diseases of rectum and anus. The Department for Thyroid Surgery works with the latest operative and therapeutic methods to treat malicious or benign dysfunctions, supplemented by hormone therapy.

Extensive operations are carried out in close cooperation with the highly specialized Clinic for Anesthesia and Intensive Care Unit, renovated in 2014. The patients are provided with top-class pain management including pain catheters. Most surgeries use the minimally invasive, endoscopic-assisted techniques (fast-track-surgery) to ensure early recovery of the patients.
